Senate Standing Committee on Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport's Inquiry into the Effectiveness of Airservices Australia's Management of Aircraft Noise
An assessment of the effectiveness of Airservices Australia's management of aircraft noise under its responsibilities to provide air traffic services and protect the environment from the effects associated with the operation of aircraft for which it has legislative jurisdiction will be undertaken by the Senate Standing Committee on Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport. The Senate Standing Committee invited public sumissions.

The Australian Government's Development of a National Aviation Policy Statement
The Australian Government is developing an Aviation White Paper to guide the aviation industry's growth over the next decade and beyond. On 2 December 2008, the Government released an Aviation Green Paper which describes the initiatives and policy settings the Government is proposing to enable a vibrant and prosperous aviation industry; one that delivers the highest standards of safety and security, competitive aviation markets and services, investment in infrastructure and environmental responsibility. The submission period for responding to the Aviation Green Paper closed on 27 February 2009 with over 230 submissions received.

Sydney Airport Preliminary Draft Master Plan
Sydney Airport released its Preliminary Draft Master Plan (PDMP) for the development of its Master Plan 2009. The updated Master Plan 2009 will provide Sydney Airport's vision for the operation and development of Australia's premier airport to the year 2029 and the strategies required to sustainably meet Sydney's future air transport needs. The consultation period in which Sydney Airport invited submissions to its PDMP closed on 16 December 2008.

Sydney Airport Major Development Plan on the Runway End Safety Area Construction
Sydney Airport Corporation Limited recently released a Draft Major Development Plan for the construction of a larger runway safety area at the western end of the east-west runway to ensure compliance with international safety standards. The Corporation invited public submissions on the proposal by Wednesday 18 June 2008.
